How do you measure the clearance between the valve guide and the valve retainer  with higher lift cams ?

please help !

Assemble and measure how much the valve will lift with a dial indicator before contacting. It will be much easier if you put a light spring in.

ok so assemble it with a light spring in place let the cam push it down put a dial gauge on it put it at zero and I will push with my finger until it stops and read dial gauge Huh?Huh?
